The following ideas, writers, activities, and products have influenced The MYW (Mindfulness, Yoga, Writing) Method: Löwenmensch, Lao Tzu, Buddha, Carl Jung, Thich Nhat Hanh, Jon Kabat-Zinn (8 week MBSR course for using Method), Eckhart Tolle, Michael Singer, Andy Clark, Embodied Cognition, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Bessel van der Kolk, Journaling (Writing Functions in The MYW Method), Stephen Hawking, Brian Greene, Neil Shubin, David Eagleman, Bernie Roth, PBS, Physiotherapy, Anatomy (Essential Anatomy 5 app for using Method), Yoga (Teacher Training course for using Method), Functional Mindfulness and Yoga (The MYW Method), Tai Chi, Standing, Walking, Jogging, Running, Climbing, Swimming, Vibrams (Five-finger barefoot-shoes for using Method, “V-Trail”, EU42USA9-9.5), and Engineering.

Warnings: If you are thinking about Mindfulness, try a weekend retreat first. 10 day silent retreats are the target, but can be too much for the Mind to deal with unless you build up to it. Understand Anatomy, it’s your Body and it carries your Mind, know it. If you are thinking about Yoga in-person at a studio, aside from COVID risk, be aware that there is a sexual predatory characteristic to some things in life, but Yoga studios are a place that fosters physical touch in class as teachers push a limb into place (they should ask first), and hugging is part of the culture these days, so don’t let someone “groom“ you by pretending they are just being nice. If you try Vibrams, then use them just a little at first – if you jog 5 miles, use them for only the last mile, or if you go out walking, try them for 15 minutes first, come home, reevaluate. The risk is pulling on an Achilles that hasn’t seen much action recently, or in forever. And get the ”V-Trail” because the sole is best suited for every day use and the other sole configurations are too soft or too hard for city-outdoor lifestyle, in my opinion.
